Udupi, Jun 16: In ligt of an upcoming programme of the Paryaya Math, Pejavara Paryayashree Vishweshatheertha Sripada who had invited the President of India and the chief minister of Karnataka got a response only from the president, he infomed the media on Thursday, June 15.
“The arrival of the chief minister for the June 18th programme is doubtful. We have sent an invitation to the chief minister through a representative of the Krishna Math. But the minister has not responded to it,” said Pejavara Paryayashree Vishweshatheertha Sripada.
Speaking to reporters, the seer said that CM's secretary though had informed that the CM would not attend the programme.
“We have done nothing to annoy others. We do not know why they are angry. I have invited the CM for Paryaya also but he has not come even once. He had sent offerings to deity Krishna after Paryaya. There is no reason to be unhappy regarding Kanakapura tower. The tower did not have that name earlier. Kanaka is given great respect in Udupi,” he said.
“Kanaka pandal, tower and the idol are installed. Kanaka Jayanti is being celebrated. Therefore there is no reason for CM to be unhappy. Besides that, as per rules, the chief minister should be present during the visit of President. As the chief minister, he has decided not to go to Krishna Math, although ministers and local leaders have urged him to come,” he said.
Chief minister Siddaramaiah had not visited the spot after the controversy on 'Kanaka Tower' fifteen years ago. Siddaramaiah had expressed his opposition as a representative of Kuruba community over the demolition of the tower above the Kanaka window. Considering these developments, there are speculations about Siddaramaiah being angry on Krishna math.
