Udupi, Jun 11: A protest meet was held against the state government and Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, at Kaup market, on Saturday, June 10.
“Several BJP workers have become victims of assaults by the Congress party in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Now those Congress leaders are coming forward to beat BJP the activist who asked the MLA about the status of work on basic necessities. This shows that it is the beginning of the end of Congress in Kaup constituency,” said MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary.
BJP district president Mattaru Rathnaker Hegde speaking on occasion and said that people had elected the Congress MLA for the development of the constituency. “However, it is condemnable that Congress is showing its true character, when it’s term is coming to an end. Instead of coming forward to assault an ordinary activist of BJP, Congress which cannot bear the development of BJP should assault us. We will show our strength to you then,” he challenged.
Udupi Zilla panchayat vice president Sheela K Shetty, said that the rowdyism of Congress party leaders and workers is exposed to people who are fed up of illegal sand mining in Udupi, assault on DC and AC, and transfer of officials. “If this continues, BJP is prepared to hit a blow in exchange to a blow,” she said.
Former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, BJP district vice president Suresh Shetty Gurme, district office bearers Yashpal Suvarna, Kuthyaru Navin Shetty, Ravi Ameen, Sandhya Ramesh, Nayana Ganesh, Kaup block BJP president Prakash Shetty Padebettu, Mithun Hegde, Shivaprasad Shetty, Udupi Zilla panchayat members Shashikanth Padubidri, Shilpa G Suvarna, Geethanjali Suvarna, Taluk panchayat member Neetha Gururaj, Shashiprabha Shetty, Rajani Anchan, Municipal council opposition leader Arun Shetty Padooru, Ellooru grama panchayat president Vasanthi Madhwaraj, vice president Jayanth Bhat, BJP block office bearers Kesari Yuvaraj, Pravin Kumar, Jithendra Shetty Udyavar, Gangadhar Suvarna, different elected representatives and district and block level office bearers of the party participated in the protests.
BJP state executive member Shamala Kunder welcomed the gathering. District secretary Suresh Nayak gave a keynote address. Block chief secretary Muralidhar Pai proposed the vote of thanks.
