Panaji, Apr 8: A Goa-based non-government organisation has filed police complaint against state advocate general Subodh Kantak for cheating the state exchequer on Tuesday April 8.
Utt Goenkara, an NGO, active on goa's social platform, has filed First Information Report (FIR) against Kantak in Panaji police under section 420 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
"Kantak has cheated the state exchequer by submitting a fraudulant bill with intent to deceive and seeking and receiving double payments in a case," Utt Goenkara spokesman Aires Rodrigues told reporters outside Panaji police station.
The organisation has charged that advocate general had charged state with multiple payments to fight a riot case reported two years back.
Panaji police inspector Fransic Corte said that they have recevied the complaint, which will be probed thoroughly before taking further action.
The issue of advocate general charging extra fees had earlier figured in the recently concluded state legislative assembly wherein main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had demanded inquiry into the incident.
