London, Jun 1: 'Chacha Chicago' aka Muhammed Bashir, the highly popular fan of Pakistan cricket team, has decided to support India in the upcoming India-Pakistan match in the ICC Champions Trophy.
The two arch rivals are slated to clash after in the Champions Trophy after nearly six years.
The 64-year-old Chacha received a call from Sudhir Chaudhary, Sachin Tendulkar's biggest fan who is often seen in the stands, enquiring if he’ll be in Birmingham to watch the match. He, however, would not be able to cheer for either team India or Pakistan from the stands this time. "I would have loved to be there in Birmingham as well but since the game is during the month of Ramadan, the trip to Mecca with my family was already planned and I will be there for a month."
In spite of having cheered for Pakistan for ages now, Chacha is also an avid fan of former captain MS Dhoni. On several occasions, Dhoni has also arranged for match tickets for him.
"I still love Pakistan but I love India more now. Earlier I wanted Pakistan to win but now it is India. The love that I received during my first trip to Mohali in 2011 was overwhelming," said Chacha Chicago.
Chacha in fact said he felt much safer in India than in Pakistan. "I have come to a stage where I end up going to India almost every year and hardly go to Pakistan. I feel much safer in India."
"I have not missed a single India-Pakistan contest since attending my first one in Mohali during the 2011 World Cup."
