Mangaluru, May 31: St Christopher Association, Mangaluru held a programme to distribute school books to children of their members as every year at the association premises on May 29.

Association honorary president Sushil Noronha, chief guest of the programme, speaking on the occasion said that it is heartening to see several groups and organisations taking the initiative to provide monetary help for education of children. “It is our duty to mould children as excellent citizens after receiving value based education. It is sad to see students remaining unemployed waiting for high salary after education. Children should be mentally prepared to do any work after studies,” he said.

Herald D'Souza, association president who presided over the programme said that the association has been distributing books to children of its members for the last fifty years. “We are glad that many among those children are employed in big positions. The aim of our organisation is the all round development of the society together with that of our members and their families,” he said.

Association senior member Peter Gonsalves, Sebastian D'Cruz, Denis Lobo, Herald F D'Souza and Gregory Veigas distributed the books. Vice-president Francis D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Vincent Lavet D'Souza compered the programme.
