Bengaluru, May 31: The city civil court here, through an interim order passed on Tuesday May 30, extended bail granted to former chief minister of Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy, till June 5. The anticipatory bail granted to Kumaraswamy relating to Jantakal illegal iron ore mining case, had ended on May 30.
The court, which took up the case for consideration on Tuesday, scrutinized the objections filed by advocates for Special Investigation Team (SIT) against bail application filed by Kumaraswamy. As the advocate representing the government sought time to place arguments, the court adjourned the hearing after extending the period of anticipatory bail till June 5.
In the Jantakal mining case, IAS officer, Ganga Ram Baderiya, is in judicial custody. The 53rd sessions court which completed hearing into the bail application moved by him on Tuesday, reserved its order. Judge of the court, Y Vanamala Rangarajan, who heard arguments made by advocate for the accused and advocate for the SIT, reserved order to June 2 before adjourning the hearing.
