Dharwad, May 30: Former union minister and MP, Basangouda Patil Yatnal, who had left BJP after falling off with the party leaders, has been knocking at the doors of the party again. In a recent statement, he said that BJP central leadership and BJP state president, Yeddyurappa, have been supportive of his re-entry into the party. Former chief minister of Karnataka, Jagadish Shettar, however, is strongly opposed to Yatnal's admission into the party. He met Yeddyurappa during his tour of the district and told him in no uncertain words that Yatnal can only inflict damage to the party, going by the past experience, and no benefit will accrue to the party because of him.
In a statement released to the media on Thursday, video clip of which was also posted in his Facebook account, Yatnal said that he will be joining BJP shortly and union leader, Arun Jaitley, Yeddyurappa etc are inclined to welcome him back into the party. He said Shettar, Prahlad Joshi and Ramesh Jigajinagi are opposing his proposal and that he hopes that the situation will become lucid soon.
Shettar reminded Yeddyurappa that Yatnal had used foul language against BJP and himself and that Yatnal had also joined various parties in the past. Yeddyurappa told him that he had not given his nod for admitting Yatnal back into the party.
