Udupi, May 26: In a nail biting final match of MIT Diamond Jubilee Cricket Trophy, Brahmavara Sports Club defeated Chakravarthy Cricket Academy Kundapur by nine runs and clinched the trophy in the U19 category. The tournament was organised by Udupi District Cricket Association in association with Manipal University.
Batting first, Brahmavara Sports Club registered a score of 148 runs with a splendid knock of 67 runs by Sparsh. He received the 'Man of the Match' award for his effort. Chakravarthy, giving a good fight, scored 139 runs in the allotted 30 overs losing all its wickets and lost by nine runs.
The U16 category also witnessed an interesting final match. Udupi Cricket Association put on board 170 runs losing 7 wickets in 30 overs. In reply, KRS Katapady was able to score 142 runs in 27.1 overs. Ashwij was adjudged the Man of the Match.
In U14 category, Udupi District Cricket Association defeated Brahmavara Sports Club by 7 wickets. Brahmavara Sports club scored only 59 runs in 13.3 overs. UDCA reached the target in eleventh over with Sampath scoring an unbeaten 20. Sampath was awarded 'Man of the Match'.

Under 14 - Brahmavara Sports Club: 59 all out in 13.3 overs (Granvel 18, Pranam 18, Nikhil 3-18, Sharan 2-5) lost to Udupi District Cricket Association: 60-3 in 11 overs (Sampath 20, Sharan 10) by 7 wickets

Dr G K Prabhu, director of MIT and pro vice-chancellor of Manipal University distributed the prizes. Balakrishna Maddodi, convener of the tournament conducted the programme. Ramadas delivered the vote of thanks.
