Kasargod, May 18: Thieves who entered a house at Manjeshwar took away Rs 45,000 in cash and about 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments kept inside a cupboard located inside the bedroom. The theft occurred during the early hours of Wednesday May 17.
The house in question belongs to Usman from Thokkottu, who currently lives behind Tabligh mosque at B S Nagar, Udyavar, Manjeshwar.
Usman had left with his family members to stay with relatives living at Thokkottu two weeks back, as the children have holidays. He had visited the house on Tuesday and found it to be in order. On Wednesday, a neighbour called Usman to inform him that the front door of the house was wide open. Usman rushed to the spot and found that the front and inner doors of the house had been broken open and the cupboard too had been broken open. A hatchet used to break open the doors was found abandoned inside the house.
Manjeshwar police, who arrived at the spot, are pooling information.
