Bengaluru, May 17: Senior IAS officer, Gang Ram Baderiya, who stands arrested relating to illegal mining case, is being interrogated. It is said that inspector general of police, Charan Reddy, and superintendent of police, Manjunath Senior IAS officer, Gang Ram Baderiya, who stands arrested relating to illegal mining case, is being interrogated. It is said that inspector general of police, Charan Reddy, and superintendent of police, Manjunath Anigeri, have been questioning the officer.
Baderiya was kept in the cell at Sanjay Nagat police station by the officials on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, he was subjected to medical check up before being brought to the office of the special investigation team.
Chief minister, Siddaramaiah, reacting to the matter, clarified that the state government has nothing to do with this arrest. "On the basis of a report given by retired Lokayukta, Justice Santosh Hegde, relating to illegal mining, Supreme Court has been holding an investigation. A special investigation team was formed under instructions from the court, and Baderiya was arrested. The state government did not play any role in this incident, he stressed.
Former chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, said that when in power, he had done nothing wrong in the matter of issuing mining licence to Jantakal Mining Company. He said he is open to investigation and questioning.
BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, said that the investigation will bring out who was the chief minister during this period, who brought pressure on whom, and which officials had supported this scandal.
State law minister, T B Jayachandra, said that Baderiya has been arrested in a case in which he has been accused of getting money by cheque. He stated that the government has nothing to do with this case and that the special investigation team is investigating the case as per Supreme Court instructions. He clarified that the government will recommend to the centre to suspend Baderiya from his post on the basis of the recommendation of the special investigation team.
