Mangaluru, May 17: Family members of Sarita, a married woman from Talapady near here, who apparently committed suicide, have expressed suspicion about her death. They have demanded for a thorough probe into the issue.
Addressing a press conference organized here on Tuesday May 16 by Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, brother of Sarita, Santosh B, said that Sarita's husband told him that she had ended her life. But when he saw her body, he said her legs were touching the ground and a little folded at the knees and the hands were touching the window. Therefore, he said, he suspects this to be a case of well-planned murder.
Both the families had agreed for the couple's alliance, and Sarita had married Sunil D'Souza from Talapady on December 26, 2005. Since a year, the relationship was going through a rough patch as Sunil was doubting her character, and used to mentally harass her often. Santosh B said Sarita had told him and other members of his family about thi development.
"The neighbours told us that Sarita had hanged herself at her home. When we expressed suspicion to Manjeshwar police and handed over complaint, the police refused to accept it and asked us to come next day. When we called the next day, they said that concerned staff were on leave. When we went to the station with leaders of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, they a ccepted the complaint," Santosh stated. He demanded detailed probe by police department to reach to the bottom of the incident.
Leaders of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Siraj Adkare and Rajesh Kuthar, father of Sarita, B A Shivappa, and sister, Meera Mohan, were present at the press conference.
