Mangaluru: Axis Bank heist - Police recover Rs 6.3 crore, arrest three

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, May 16: Days after employees of a cash transporting agency absconded with Rs 7.5 crore from Axis Bank here, the city police with the help of their counterparts in Kodagu succeeded in arresting three persons and recovering part of the stolen cash.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday May 16, police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that the arrested are Karibasava (24) of Chitradurga, and gunmen Poovanna (38) and Kariyappa (46) from Kodagu.

They were arrested from Somwarpet and Rs 6.3 crore of the total Rs 7.5 crore has been recovered, the commissioner said.

On May 11, four employees including the above from SIS Prosegur-Holdings agency were supposed to transport Rs 7.5 crore by a van from Yeyyadi branch of Axis Bank here to its branch in Koramangala in Bengaluru. But after loading the van, the accused went absconding. The empty van was later located at Hunsur.

The police who took up the investigation formed a special team of 18 personnel led by ACP Shruthi. Kodagu SP Rajendra Prasad also formed a 10-member police team to carry out the investigation.

The police teams searched the length and breadth of places like Bengaluru, Hassan, Mysuru and Kodagu, and were finally successful in arresting the accused from Kumbaragadige forest area in Somwarpet.

The fourth person involved, identified as Bheemayya, is still absconding. He is supervisor of the agency involved in the cash transport.

"Efforts are on to nab a few more accused in the case. We are also questioning the custodian Parashuram on his involvement," the police commissioner said.

"We have recovered only Rs 6.3 crore so far and we suspect that the rest of the money is with the absconding accused," he added.

"The investigation is in the preliminary stage and we are yet to find out the role of the bank employees," he said.

To a question on the honey trap case in which a doctor lost Rs 14 lac, the police commissioner said that Ullal residents Mohammed Ranji (23), Hassan Iqbal Sadiq (30) and Beltangady resident Narayana have been arrested so far and booked under IPC sections 323, 324, 341, 364 (A), 395, 348, 328, 504 and 506. Two more including one Rakesh and a lady, are yet to be arrested, he said.

About the assault and abduction of a doctor in a hospital in Deralakatte on Tuesday, he said that three persons, namely Mohammed Asif, Mohammed Uwais and Naufal have been arrested. A counter case of medical negligence has also been registered in Ullal police station by the patient's family, he said.

Wow...!! Awesome work from the Mangalore & Kodagu Police.

I laughed my lungs out by seeing these people who stole 7.5 Crore, Pity them if you give 75000 they may not able to carry that in person. Stupid people lost job because of utter stupidity. lost future, lost present.
I could't even stop laughing even now when i see the second guy ( Assuming the way he might stared at 7.5 crore with)
    Jokes Apart:
I Pity them for the utter foolishness.

    Regards,
