Kasargod, May 14: The mortal remains of the seven persons of a family from Mandekapu, Kayyar, who died in the horrific accident near Karur in Tamil Nadu on Saturday May 13, were brought to Mangaluru on Sunday May 14.
The bodies have been kept at Fathe Muller hospital mortuary.
Allwyn Monteiro (29), his brothers Herald Monteiro (50) and Sathurine Monteiro (37), Herald's wife Precilla (42), Allwyn's sister-in-law Reema (35) and their son Rohit (22), and Sathurine's daughter Sharon (5) died when a lorry crashed into their car near Karur while they were returning from a visit to Velankanni pilgrim centre.
Sathurine's wife Jhosma (26), younger daughter Shanvi (1.5 years) and Allwyn's wife Preema (25) who were injured in the accident are undergoing treatment in a hospital at Karur.
Three ambulances brought the bodies from Tamil Nadu to Mangaluru. Deceased Herald Monteiro's son Roshan accompanied.
Mangaluru MLC Ivan D'Souza, Kasargod ZP member Harshad Varkady, Zulfikar Ali and others made the necessary arrangements. Ivan D'Souza also visited the bereaved family on the day of the accident and expressed his sympathies.
The bodies will be kept at Father Muller mortuary and will be sent to Christ the King Church at Kayyar on Monday May 15. The funeral will be held at 3 pm.
