Madikeri: Cattle trafficking vehicle set on fire after police arrest accused

Daijiworld Media Network-Madikeri (RJP)

Madikeri, May 14: A vehicle was set on fire by cow vigilantes after the police intercepted a cattle trafficking team and arrested some of the accused.

The incident took place at Kodlipet near Somwarpet on Saturday, May 13.

Police arrested two people from Mangaluru, identified as Sharif and Mansoor. Five other cattle thieves who were also from Mangaluru escaped.

As per details, a group of 7 cattle thieves had stolen eight cows from different houses in Kodagu and were transporting them to Mangaluru.

After obtaining information on the same, Kushalnagar police asked Kodlipet police to stop the Tempo Traveller vehicle which carried the cows. An escort pickup was also following the Tempo Traveller. Both the vehicles did not stop when police demanded. The two vehicles hit a motorcycle on the way, damaged it badly and fled towards Sakleshpur.

But the police team which took it as a challenge chased the thieves and managed to intercept the vehicle at Aanemahal in Sakleshpur.

During the chase, the accompanying pickup van had given the police a harrowing time by trying to block the police party from getting near the Tempo Traveller.

Five among the cow thieves escaped after a scuffle with the police. The pickup truck was also stopped and the police took both vehicles into their custody and parked them near the Kodlipet police station.

Later, the Tempo Traveler parked in front of the Kodlipet police station was torched by an unidentified group of people believed to be cow vigilantes. The vehicle was fully charred. Police could not do much as there was a shortage of staff. They had to control the crowd and wait for brigade to come and extinguish the fire.

Kodagu superintendent of police Rajendra Prasad said efforts were on to nab the suspects who fled.

Police in Hassan and Mangaluru have been notified about those who escaped.

The driver of the pickup van who tried to obstruct the police during the chase is also absconding.

Following investigations, the police have taken two persons named Kumar and Dharmaraj into custody for torching the Tempo Traveller.

It is claimed that the cow thieves stole Kumar’s cattle and enraged over this, the accused torched the vehicle. But police said they are investigating the matter and truth will be known soon.

Cow Vigilantes, Go Rakshak, all this nuisance started recently to divert innocents voters.
The people all over the world know that Amul is the biggest milk supplier in the entire world.
This milk is not produced by machines but produced by cows. The number of cows that are unproductive and abandoned on daily basis are more than 10,000 cows. What will you do with these cows? Who will pay for the food if you keep these cows until they die? They will fall sick now and then and who will pay for medicare?
Why this drama of cow matha and cow vigilance?
The police is responsible for all this nuisance. The Police should take action on people who attack innocent traders who buy the cow and transport to slaughter house.
The people will gather and make news that the animals are stolen.
I have a very open truth incident to highlight here. In my village, a old man sold his pair of bullocks because they are not of any use for him. His own son gathered BD youth and thrash the trader who was taking them to sell further. The reason is the booty was not shared with son.
If Police will continue like this then we will soon have civil wars and unrest in society.

Police should arrest the goondas who torched the vehicle. I dont think cows were stolen. This is regular practice of sangh parivar to sell cows at a handsome price and then inform the goondas about it. Goondas then chase the vehicle transporting legally purchased cows and attahed the transporters and loot valuable from them and then inform police before damaging the vehicle and beating the inmates. This is like monkey business of sangh parivar goondas which is being supported by police. It is unfortunate that Karnataka Govt is very soft on these goondas who take law in their hand in the name of gow rakshak and making good money by selling stolen cows and then stealing money from the buyers in the name of law. Police should take stern action agaisnt these goondas and stop them from selling stolen cows. They are the real cow thieves and not the one who purchased it at a high price.

Get hold of the five thieves and give all of them strict punishment just like rape case that is death penalty then only the cattle (cow) traffickers would learn a lesson. Useless persons always ahead in violence, lootmaar, gambling, daadagiri, drugs, blackmarketing, what else.

Are the Police unemployed? Instead of checking on cows why don't they check on people involved in robbery, violence, communalism and corruption? Let people eat what they want. Cow is an animal. It is people who need protection from anti-socials and not cows

Read the news again stolen cows.
Each cow costs 25,000/- to 50,000/-
That means they earn2,00,000/- to 3,00,000/- without doing much work in just 2 days. Doctors and engineers struggling to get this much amount every month.
    What's an idea...
