Kundapur, May 13: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday May 13 said that differences in the party between him and former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa had been sorted out, and that the party's sole aim now is to win next year's state Assembly elections with at least 150 seats. He also termed that present Congress state government as the 'most corrupt' ever.
Addressing a press meet prior to BJP executive meeting in Byndoor here, he also expressed confidence that at least 25 members of Parliament (MPs) from BJP would be elected in Karnataka in the next Lok Sabha elections.
"Securing 150 seats in the upcoming state Assembly elections and forming the government is our aim," he said.
To a question regarding differences in the BJP, he said, "There are no differences in the party. Those things were sorted out in the recent meeting held in Bengaluru. Winning the elections is the sole aim of BJP at present. There were several opportunities for Congress to develop the state. But the Congress government has turned out to be the most corrupt government Karnataka ever had," he said.
"Every activist of BJP should understand the achievement of BJP and the failure of the corrupt Congress led-government and take this message to every doorstep," he said.
Criticising the state government further, he said, "People in the state are crying for drinking water. Siddaramaiah-led government has remained indifferent to their pleas. This shows the poor concern of the present government towards the common man.
Asked if BJP had contemplated on the candidates for the Assembly elections, he said, "A survey will be conducted in the Assembly constituencies two months ahead of the elections and the candidates who are likely to win will be given tickets. A tour will be conducted from May 18 in the state. BJP leaders will lead the teams. We will meet every party worker and stress on the need to strengthen the party. Several Dalits and backward class leaders in the state are eager to join BJP. They will be welcomed into the party."
Speaking on other issues, he said, "BJP will not allow implementation of the Kasturirangan report. Farmers are reeling under drought and there are many requests to the BJP party to waive their loans. BJP urges the government to write off their loans. We will continue to campaign for this cause."
Reporters were not allowed into the executive meeting held later. A progress review meeting was held with the officials in the evening.
Former MP K Jayaprakash Hegde, B M Sukumar Shetty, district president Mattar Rathnaker Hegde, Byndoor block president Sadananda Uppinakudru, Kundapur block president Kadooru Suresh Shetty, Vidhana Parishat member Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Karkal MLA Sunil Kumar and others were present.
