Mangaluru: Breach of trust - Four transporting Rs 7.5 crore to bank go absconding

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 12: In a breach of trust, four persons who were supposed to transfer a huge amount of cash from the city to Bengaluru have gone absconding with a whopping sum of Rs 7.5 crore.

Four employees of Prosegur-Holdings company were supposed to transport Rs 7.5 crore by a van from Yeyyadi branch of Axis Bank here to its branch in Koramangala in Bengaluru.

The firm's employees, driver Karibasava, custodian Parashurama, and gunmen Poovanna and Basappa came to Mangaluru for the task and on Thursday May 11, they loaded the van with the currency chest containing the said amount from Yeyyadi branch of the Bank. The manager of the branch directed them to transport the money to the Koramangala branch.

However, the money never reached its destination, nor did the bank get it back.

The persons who were transporting the money by Bolero have since gone absconding, and case of breach of trust and cheating has been registered against the accused.

The complaint has been filed by Sachin, in-charge of Prosegur-Holdings unit located at Konchady here.

As per the latest information, the city police who took up the investigations located the van at Arasukallalli in Hunsur, but it as empty and there was no trace of the accused men.

Police have learnt that a fifth person, identified as Bheemayya and suspected to be involved in the case, has disappeared in Bengaluru. He was working in the office of the firm in Bengaluru, and is the younger brother of accused Poovanna. Both are cousins of Basappa.

Kankanady police have registered a case and investigations are on.

Agencies are also safe in this matter as they have insurance. Sometimes agencies themselves hatch a plan like this and share the bounty plus insurance. The punishment for the offence too is less and they can lead a comfortable life after they come out provided the loot is not traced and cops are taken into confidence. If the cops are able to be fixed, the plan would go unnoticed. Its a bad bad world out there.
