Mangaluru : Diocese to celebrate Fatima apparition centenary at Tannirbavi on May 13

Mangaluru, May 10: "The statue of Mary that was brought from Fatima on occasion of the fiftieth year of apparition of Mary and kept in Milagres Church, will be taken in a  procession from Bondel Church to Our Lady of Church Tannirbavi on Saturday, May 13. A large number of people coming from different place will join the procession at Doast Club Tannirbavi at 4 pm," informed Fr Onil D’Souza, director St Anthony’s Charity Institutes, at a press meet here on Wednesday, May 10.

The statue was earlier taken to all the 117 Churches of the diocese, where people honoured 'Our Lady of Fatima' by conducting prayers. Preparations for the celebration began a year ago at the Mangaluru diocese.

"Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru will celebrate the Holy Mass. Around seventy-five priests and six thousand people are expected to participate in the celebration. The Bishop will also release a documentary film prepared on Our Lady of Fatima by Fr Stany Montiero of Bambil Church," he informed.

Fr Francis D’Souza, convener of the celebration, Fr Alban Rodrigues, parish priest, Felix D’Souza, vice president, Clifford Lobo, former vice president of Tannirbavi Parish, and Vincent Mascarenhas, media person of the Diocese of Mangaluru were present for the press conference.
