Udupi, May 10: “The Udupi Municipality Council has failed to supply proper drinking water and district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj should take its responsibility,” said district BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde in a press meet held at Town BJP office Kadiyali, Udupi on Tuesday, May 9.
“The city council has not provided drinking water to district government hospital, Ajjarkad from eight days. The situation of the hospital has become worse without water and the patients are suffering due this,” he added.
“Minister Pramod promised that he will bring Baje dam water to Udupi in his elections manifesto. But this has become just a mirage for people in Udupi. Further, the authorities are not providing Varahi water for agricultural land,” he said.
“The water is leaking from Baje dam through sand bags constantly. Apart from this, illegal sand mining has been rampant. The minister had promised to upgrade district hospital at a cost of Rs 500 crores and forming new sand policy for costal districts. But these promises remain in words alone so far,” said Mattaru.
Speaking about the progress in introducing generic medicines, he said, “Sincere work has been happening on Modi’s proposal to introduce generic medicines. This move is an attempt to bring expensive drugs to poor Indians. I urge public to support this movement. Only then, Modi’s dream for India will come true.”
“A district-level executive committee meeting is being organized by district BJP at Vandse, near Byndoor on Saturday, May 13. State party president B S Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the programme. A huge public meeting will be held and leaders, MLAs and MPs from other states are expected to participate in the public programme,” he informed.
“Various programmes have been organized to mark the birth centenary of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya such as sports meet for men, Srishakti convention, Social media and medical camps by Slum Morcha, planting of saplings by Raitha morcha. We will continue to organize various events to strengthen the party at district level,” he concluded.
Shankar Poojary, Suresh Nayak, Shreesha Nayak, Shivakumar Ambalpady were present.
