Kundapur, May 8: Scorching heat of summer that has been unrelenting in this part of the district as there have been no rains, has been accounting for several deaths. During the last one month, one more life was lost to escalating heat on Saturday May 6 as a person collapsed and died due to unbearable sunshine.
The deceased was Thimma (33), a daily wager and resident of Kotebagilu in Tallur village in the outskirts of the town. Thimma, who worked as an agricultural labourer, suddenly experienced severe symptoms of dehydration and lost his life shortly thereafter. The taluk has been experiencing temperature of 37 degree Celsius, which itself is a record in recent times.
Two others from the taluk, Krishna Devadiga from Maravanthe and Vasanth Shetty from Amparu village had died due to excessive heat on April 3 and 9 respectively.
Thimma, it is gathered, was working along with Babu Shetty from Uppinakudru when he suddenly collapsed due to exhaustion while working in the field. Although he was immediately taken to the government hospital here, he could not be saved.
Babu is survived by wife and a daughter. A report about this death was registered at the town police staiton here.
