Kundapur, May 4: CPIM Byndoor zonal committee and Karnataka Adivasi Rights coordination committee held protests in front of Gangolli police station urging the police to file a chargesheet against those who indulged in moral policing by assaulting the Koraga community of Hosadu grama. The protesters submitted a complaint to the district SP.
CPIM district secretary Balakrishna Shetty addressing the protesters said that the suspects entered the house of Koraga community in Hasadu grama who were celebrating an engagement ceremony, assaulted Koraga community youth, hurled expletives at Panchayat member Shakuntala and threatened to rape her. “A chargesheet under Dalit atrocities should be registered against the suspects,” he said. “Selection of food is our right. Nobody has the power to snatch it. Atrocities on innocent people in the incident is heinous and shameful,” he said in anguish.
“False propaganda is being spread on social websites about panchayat member Shakuntala. The suspects should be punished after a detailed investigation. Cases registered against innocent Koraga community families should be withdrawn. Suitable compensation should be paid to the aggrieved families of the community,” he urged.

Gangolli police station SI Subbanna, CPIM state secretarial board member K Shanker, party leaders Suresh Kallagara, H Narasimha, Venkatesh Koni, Kundapur Karnataka Adivasi rights coordination committee convener Sridhar Nada and others were present.
