Karkala, May 4: The rider of a motor bike got killed after a car rammed into his vehicle near Nitte on Wednesday May 3. The deceased has been identified as Harish Acharya (38), resident of Ummanabettu in Nitte.

Harish had visited his residence for lunch. When he was going back to the town from Nitte and passing through Doopadakatte, a Maruti Swift vehicle which approached his bike from behind at high speed, hit his vehicle. Acharya, who was tossed into the roadside drain due to the impact of the accident, died instantly.

It is said that a boy, around nine years of age, who hails from Mumbai, was driving the car when the said accident occurred. Immediately after the accident, he fled from the spot, some locals stated. When the police came to inspect the spot, the local people urged them to summon the boy to the spot and take steps against him. After the police assured them that they would find out the culprits and punish the guilty, the crowd of local people dispersed.
