Bengaluru, May 3: Former city corporator, V Nagaraj, who has succeeded so far in frustrating police on his tail relating to detection of Rs 14.8 crore in demonetised currency notes at his residence some time back, has at the same time, succeeded in keeping in touch with his advocates and wife. This has surprised the police.
His advocates have filed a petition for anticipatory bail relating to a case registered at Hennur station about the abduction of an entrepreneur, and recovery of demonetised currency notes as above. The petition is listed for hearing on Thursday May 4.
Officials recall that Nagaraj, who does not have any notable education, is technically advanced and by using technology he has been hoodwinking the police department. All the sims he has used so far are switched off, but he is in contact with the persons he is in need of.
Police sources say that in the past, Nagaraj, whenever called to police stations for questioning, always wore a button camera to record the proceedings. Before visiting the stations, he used to call a number of one of his associates so that the conversation with police could be recorded. In addition to button camera, he also kept a tracking device with him to help his followers to keep track of his movements if the police lead him to unknown destination so that they can file a case against the police in court, a police officer involved in investigation against him in the past has revealed.
