Mangaluru, May 2: Elder brother of under-trial Qureshi, who was arrested in connection with a murder attempt case and who certain organizations had claimed to have been tortured by the police, has said that Qureshi has been threatened by the police.
"Three police personnel met Qureshi and urged him to withdraw the complaint filed by him against the police. They also pressurized my brother to sign a blank paper. They also threatened him of dire consequences if he fails to sign the letter," Nishad, brother of Qureshi, stated. He provided this information in a letter he dispatched to the state chief minister.
It is said that Qureshi narrated about this incident during the visit of his cousins, Naushad and Arafat, to Wenlock Hospital where he is being treated. Advocate for Qureshi, Dinesh Hegde, stated that in this case, human rights have been violated.
