PANAJI, Mar 25: Under growing pressure on the credibility of police probe into the death of British teenaged girl Scarlett Eden Keeling, Goa government was on Monday seriously contemplating the possibility of handing over the case to CBI.
Highly-placed sources said that within a couple of days, the case would be handed over to CBI and formalities in this regard are being completed.
Chief Minister Digamber Kamat is likely to make a statement in the state assembly, which is in session, about handing over the case to CBI.
Meanwhile, the issue of Scarlett's death figured in the assembly today when opposition benches mounted a scathing attack on Home Minister Ravi Naik who had been accused by Scarlett's mother Fiona Mackeown of being involved with drug trade.
Naik, in his reply, said he would not mind handing over the Scarlett death case inquiry to CBI if questions are raised on the state police's credibility.
