Bengaluru, Apr 28: If the Centre for Media Studies (CMS), has in its survey has dubbed Karnataka as the ‘’Most Corrupt State in the Country,’’ Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya has claimed that “Karnataka will rank number one in the country if the survey was conducted in the developmental parameters.’’
Anjaneya, who is very close to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, told reporters in Bengaluru on Friday that CMS survey was faulty and lacked authenticity.
The CMS survey was based on faulty methodologies and Karnataka was not the most corrupt State in the country, the minister argued.
Anjaneya said unlike during the BJP rule in Karnataka, no minister had gone to jail and no Minister has faced charge-sheet.
The Congress government has taken several steps, including establishment of anti-corruption bureau, for eliminating corruption, he said.
The CMS, in its survey in 20 states, found that people in Karnataka faced corruption the most in accessing public services.
According to the survey, “77 % of respondents” in Karnataka said they experienced corruption in accessing public services.
This is followed by Andhra Pradesh (74 %), Tamil Nadu (68 %), Maharashtra (57 %), Jammu and Kashmir (44 %) and Punjab (42 %).
Congress MLC V S Ugrappa lashed out at the Narendra Modi government for not appointing the Lokpal to crackdown corruption in public life.
The Supreme Court of India ruling on Thursday was a slap on the Modi government, he said adding that court said “there was no justification” to keep the enforcement of the Lokpal Act 2013 suspended.
The BJP which came to power at the Centre in the wake of anti-corruption movement nation-wide has not shown interest in appointing the Lokpal, he said. (EOM)
