Bantwal, Apr 28: A man who was devastated at the sudden disappearance of his wife and son chose to take away his life by consuming poison at the shed in his plantation. Naveen Kumar (41), resident of Soorya in Idkidu village near Vittal, who happens to be the victim of this incident, it is learnt, had been bogged down mentally after the two persons close to him disappeared without leaving any clue about their future plans.

Naveen's wife, Chitra (29) and her son, Jeevit Kumar (8) had left home on April 11 with the stated purpose of visiting Chitra's elder sister. They have not been seen ever since. Naveen had filed missing complaint in Vittal police station, and the police personnel have been searching for his missing family members.

Some days back, Chitra reportedly wrote a letter to her husband, informing him that she does not like to stay with him and that she currently lives at Bengaluru. This came as a bolt from the blue for Naveen. Dismayed over the development, he consumed poison in the shed of his plantation. In a death note left behind, Naveen has asked for rescuing of his son who had been taken away by his wife, and to clear the loans raised by him. The police, who have taken into possession this eight-page letter, are investigating.
