Mangaluru, Apr 28: There is a possibility of the recently started Kudla Express inter-city train running between the city and Bengaluru getting extended to Central station here. Detailed discussions on the possibility of extending movement of Kudla Express train from Kankanady Junction to City Central station here took place at the Railway Users Consultative Committee meeting held on Thursday April 27 at Palakkad.
Currently, Kudla Express runs between Kankady Junction instead of central, and Yeshwantpur railway station at Bengaluru instead of city station there. This has been putting commuters to lot of inconveniences. Hanumanth Kamath, who raised the topic on behalf of Railway Users Committee at the meeting, brought the problems to the notice of railway officials and demanded to run the train from central station instead of Junction.
Naresh Lalwani, southern railway divisional manager, in his response, said that this train can be run from city central station if south western railway division changes the time table. "For accommodating this train, we have to provide a platform at central station to this train. To make this happen, some changes would have to be made in the running of some other train. We will make efforts to bring these changes and run this train from central station," he stated.
Hanumanth Kamath reportedly suggested at the meeting to run Karwar-Bengaluru train via Hassan instead of Mysuru to save time. He also felt that by changing timing of this train and its route, space in central station can be made available for Kudla Express train. Railway officials told Kamath that they would explore this possibility too.
