Panaji: Scarlett's Murder Case Takes New Twist

Panaji, Mar 22: Contradicting to the police theory on Scarlett's death, the final report submitted today by forensic experts today  mentioned the possibility of she being killed rather leaving to die in shallow water, as claimed by police.
 
The report comes in the stark contradiction to the police theory that she was drugged, rapped and left to die in the water. However, the forensic report, which comes after thoroughly studying the viscera report, mentions that she struggled before her death and levels of ethyl alcohol was not enough was not enough to cause comma and death.
 
Police had said Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho had drugged her while former raped her twice and when she went unconscious left her to die in the shallow water.
 
Scarlett Eden Keeling, a teenage british girl, was found dead on Goa's popular Anjuna beach on February 18. Police had launched massive investigation in the incident after her mother Fiona Mackeown suspected foul play in her death.
 
The investigating authorities had said that since Scarlett was unconscious she could not get up from the water and water went into her nose drowning her on the spot. The inspector general of police, Kishan Kumar, had revealed this theory during     a press conference.
 
The report mentions the possibility of head is submerged in water for five to ten minutes. "Levels of ethyl alcohol detected in the instant case are not enough to cause coma and death."
 
Dr Silvano Sapeco, who conducted the first autopsy on Scarlett's body, has submitted the final report today which comprises of chemical analyser's report from directorate of forensic science laboratories at Kalina, St Cruz.
 
The report also mentions that the bruises and abrasions on the body are suggestive of signs and struggles.
 
Police till now had stated that the abbressions and bruises are due to the sexual assault on her, which is contradicted in the report submitted today.
 
While for the first autopsy, five bruises were noticed on her body, the second autopsy mentioned 50 bruises – of which 22 ante mortem, which had raised the suspicion on the circumstances that led to her death.
 
Dr Sapeco, who was criticized for his first autopsy report, in his final report, said that he had verbally expressed homicidal possibility to a police officer who had come to collect the report.
