Hassan, Apr 26: Right legs of a woman and her four-hear-old son were lost due to the fact that they failed to take abundant care when alighting the train.

Jameela (30) from Kodlipet in Kodagu district, and her son, Mufeez (4), had arrived at Sakleshpur railway station in the district from Bengaluru by train on Tuesday April 25. Jameela, who had left for Bengaluru with her four children to spend holidays, had come back in a train. She planned to catch a bus to Kodlipet from Sakleshpur.

As soon as the train began to slow down near the railway station, Jameela's young son tried to get down from the train. The mother, who was taken aback at the child's sudden move, rushed to stop the child from moving ahead, sensing risk. In a hurry, Jameela lost balance and fell down from the train along with her young son. The wheels of the train instantly moved over their right legs, with the lower portions of the legs getting separated from the thighs.

Both of them were provided immediate treatment at Crawford Hospital at Sakleshpur before being rushed to the town. This incident came as a warning for elders accompanying young children to be careful enough not to allow them to go out of sight or try anything dangerous.
