Kundapur, Apr 25: Police conducted raids at Movadi Koragara colony near Gangolli on the night of Monday April 24 and arrested three persons for illegally slaughtering cattle there.
Gangolli police conducted the raids after receiving definite information that cattle were being slaughtered illegally for meat behind a house at Koragara colony, Movadi.
The three arrested are Mahesh and Harish of Movadi, and Bidkalkatte resident Srikanth.
The police seized the meat found at the place and took it to the police station. They also recovered the tools used to slaughter the animals. It is said that the animals were slaughtered for some special occasion at the residence.
Hindu Jagarana Vedike Gangolli unit has severely condemned the incident, alleging that an illegal slaughterhouse had been functioning in the area where cattle was being slaughtered for meat. HJV also urged the police to arrest the accused and punish the guilty.
A registered has been registered in Gangolli police station.
