Mangaluru, Apr 24: Sandeep Malani has worked wonder of wonders and record of sorts by casting more than 100 artistes in his film series, ‘Maa – Yeh Cinemaa Hai’. While the artistes are from Bengaluru, Mumbai and other parts of the country, Malani has got several talented artistes from the city playing important roles in the film.
Mangalureans who feature in the film include Meena Malani, Deepali Khambakdone, Reshma Malani, Nigel Pereira, Denzil Pereira, Silver Malani, Dilip Malani, Cherrie Ash, Canyut Fernandes, Dinesh, Sachin Shetty, Nikhil Kulal, G K Thirumalesh, Clement Sequeira, Mohammed Aashiq, Chirag Kundapur, Danel Cutimha, Marina Roopa, Joseph Rajan, Roseline Sequeira, Xavier Fernandes, Ivy Fernandes, Vinay Saldanha, Jaison Melroy, Juliet Aranha, Gita Suvarna, Ashwin Rao, Avinash Poojary, Alwyn Dsouza, Nishita Saldanha, Anil Maxim Pinto, Leslie Fernandes, Melson Dsouza, Ajit Shetty, Clerry Fernandes, Valerian Fernandes, Roy Sequeira, Umesh K T, Clara Pinto, Mohammed Kabeer, Violet Tauro, Vincent Tauro, Baby Sharon David, Master Sam Pinto, Master Daniel Pinto, Baby Isabelle among others.
Veteran Tulu actress Sarojini Shetty holds a prominent role in the film and so does Konkani and Tulu character artiste Vinny Fernandes who plays a comedy role in the series. It is a first for both the talented actresses in Hindi cinema.
With all the above actors and actresses, Malani has also roped in the high in demand, current heartthrobs Sonal Monteiro, Ester Noronha and Varsha Acharya playing important characters in the film. While Varsha Acharya plays one of the leads as a surprise entry in the series, Sonal Monteiro and Ester Noronha play themselves relaying a strong message to the society on woman empowerment, thereby strenghtening the impact by their natural performance. Saiheel Rai, is his natural self and does what he is good at doing namely, anchoring and having a grip over the audience.
The famous ‘Bangar Patler’ director Dr Richard Castelino too appears as himself in a sequence in the film, along with his wife Leena Castelino. As a surprise appearance, one can also get to see the Konkani famous comedian Adolphous Cutinha popularly known as Dolla in a TV sequence in the film.
Lastly, the talented world famous artiste/painter Chitra Mithra too makes an appearance as himself in the opening title credits of the film, that have the famous Konkani song ‘Mog Tuzo Kithlo Ashelom’ sung by Prajoth Dsa and Ashwin Dcosta, who also make a cameo appearance.
