Udupi, Apr 24: Sathish Nayak (46), resident of the town who works for Manipal Power Press in the capacity of machine operator, who was moving in his scooter, took a turn towards a petrol bunk at Indrali Junction at around 4.45 pm on Sunday April 23, when a Toyota Innova car coming from behind collided with his vehicle.

The driver of Innova, it appears, did not expect that the two-wheeler ahead would take a turn all of a sudden. Before he could respond to the situation, accident had happened on the state highway. Nayak suffered serious injuries in the accident and fell to the road. He continued to be there for sometime before help arrived.

Some locals took Nayak to KMC Hospital Manipal by an auto rickshaw. Although the doctors tried to save him, Nayak breathed his last at around 6 pm on Sunday. He is survived by wife and two children, it is gathered.

Some youngsters who were seated in a bar nearby, who had not made any efforts to rescue Nayak and provide him treatment immediately after the accident, got involved with an argument with police personnel when they arrived at the scene of the accident sometime later to conduct spot inspection and take the Innova driver with them. The youngsters said they wanted to teach a lesson to the Innova driver and demanded the driver to be handed over to them. Their body language suggested that they were ready to assault the police personnel.

However, when the police prepared the inquest report thereafter and asked the young people to sign, they refused.

We have to be careful on the road. Drive slowly give your indications to turn well. I feel sad when lives are lost on the road. I feel very upset. Lets all follow the traffic rules and make our roads safer. I often see people driving recklessly on the road. Road seems to be unsafe nowadays. ROad rage rash driving and drunken driving must end. There must be more checks on speeding and drunken driving I feel very upset when I see an accident on the road for accidents are completely preventable incidences. May there be more seriousness on roads. I fee sometimes scared to drive on highways.

    Very unfortunate to see.

Please take indicators seriously while on road because that's the only way to communicate. I often see people roaming with indicator on while their intension is not to take direction. But others cannot predict your mind and they are unaware of wher you are moving. And if you have realised a that indicator is on and actually want to take diversion, such things may happen. So please, let's keep roads safe.

Actually you cannot blame people who were drinking in the bar. Because they were drunk. First of all, they need to stand firmly on the ground in order to help others.
How do you expect any help from them? No way. Argument with the police because they were drunk. If they were normal they would not fight. When they are fully drunk they normally see the truth and they will stand by truth. So find the difference. First person who should help is none other than car driver himself. But he ran away?

Well said Sir. These youngsters only know to drink and fight and if any incident happens rather than helping them they will be busy videographing the situation. The one's who were fighting should be arrested first.

All the vehicles need to keep safe distance of around 50 feet. Otherwise this is the result.
Before your brain sends signal to foot to apply brake but you are late by few milli seconds. You are approaching front vehicles too soon. So everyone drives very safely by keeping proper distance from other vehicles so that other people safe on the road. But who will teach all the lessons?

    Sad incident.

Not the first time any two-wheeler has turned in any direction without giving any indication.

Youth sitting in bar did nothing to help the person in need but later show to play 'hero'. What a shame.

Unfortunately many people nowadays tend to forget to carry their brains along when they get out of their home.

Its really a pain to drive in India these days. These two wheeler's come in between your path anytime and without any indication. These two wheeler's have no road manners, nor they think they should also consider that other vehicles are plying on the same road. One must see these people driving in the State Highways and major roads in and around Mangalore. Because we are seeing more and more two wheeler accident these days, it is only because of not adhering to the Road safety rules and traffic rules.
My request to the parents of young children, please never buy fancy two wheeler's to your children if you want them to live longer.
