Margao, Mar 21: March: Strong gusty wind that blew on Friday evening at Tisk-Usgao village, at least 45 Km away from here, toppled trees, electricity poles and Pieces of the roof went flying by the 25 houses making the village totally paralyze.
One lady was hospitalized as sustained grave injuries, after the roof felt on her. She is recuperating in Goa Medical College.
According to Bharat Naik, local from Sainagar, who witnessed the whole scene, told Daijiworld correspondent that around 6 pm, gusty winds followed with sharp thunders and lightning blew the roof of houses, they were at least thrown 400 meter away. Also the banana plantations in the area ruined by the wind. Farmers may face heavy loss.
He claimed that it was a cyclone. But the state Meteorology department head K V Singh denied the possibility of cyclone and informed that they were just strong gusty winds.
Cyclone doesn’t come all in sudden, and second thing no report related in that was found in department, Singh told.
He also told that owing to low pressure in Andaman and Nicobar, rain was expected in Goa. Which may last for more three days.
People suffered for long two hours by these gusty winds. Ponda Police and Fire Service were reached to rescue them only after journalist informed them about the incident.
Meanwhile 6 accident took place in state, in which 3 live are claimed to death.
