UP exploring air connectivity to tourist spots


Lucknow, Apr 21 (IANS): The Uttar Pradesh government is exploring air connectivity to major religious tourist places in the state, an official said on Friday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the tourism department officials to work out an action plan to connect religious hot spots including, Lucknow, Mathura, Vrindavan, Ayodhya, Allahabad, Vindhaychal, Naimisharanya, Kushinagar, Varanasi and Chitrakoot through helicopter services.

At a meeting held to review the civil aviation department, Yogi said the state government will also explore the possibilities of establishing more airports in Uttar Pradesh to boost tourism.

The airports would be established under the regional connectivity scheme, an official told IANS.

The construction of airport at Kushinagar, extension of the air strip at Chitrakoot and construction of a new air strip at Kanpur was on way, the official added.
