Manama: Ajith Bangera to head Bahrain Billwas for 2017-18

Manama, Apr 20: Guru Seva Samiti (GSS) - Bahrain Billawas unanimously elected the new executive committee for the year 2017 – 2018 during the annual general body meeting held at Karnataka Social Club on April 7.

Bahrain Billawas, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, will be headed by youngster Ajith Bangera who hails from Kurkal, Subasnagara. Hemanth Salian Kaup and Harinath Suvarna Katapadi to hold the posts of vice president and general secretary respectively.

GSS has been actively involved in various social causes in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district since its inception. The association is well known for promoting the rich Tulu and Kannada culture in the kingdom and identifying deserving talents in the Billawa community in Bahrain through various sports and entertainment programmes held throughout the year. 

The members of the new executive committee for 2017 – 2018 are as follows: Ajith Bangera – President, Hemanth Salian – Vice President, Harinath Suvarna – General Secretary, Nithyanand Suvarna – Assistant General Secretary, Ashok Kateel –Treasurer, Harish Kumar - Assistant Treasurer, Pradeep Sudhekar – Entertainment Secretary, Hitin Poojary – Assistant Entertainment Secretary, Chirag Suvarna – Sports Secretary, Raj Poojary Bedra – Committee Member Purushotham Poojary – Committee Member.   

GSS will be hosting Shree Satyanarayana Pooja at Shree Krishna temple Auditorium, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain on May 5 to commemorate the beginning of the 15th anniversary program. The induction ceremony of the new committee will also be held after the pooja ceremony.
