Mangaluru, Apr 19: “Congress is ready and well-equipped to face next Assembly elections,” said Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes on Tuesday, April 19.
He was speaking to reporters during his visit to city. His remarks came while he was asked whether the same pattern of Nanjangudu and Gundlupet by-poll results will be repeated in the next elections of 2018.
“When Dr G Parameshwar was made minister, a new KPCC chief should have been chosen. But due to various reasons, the post could not be filled and the same person continues till today. But definitely a new KPCC chief will be appointed soon, ” Oscar added.
“The government is serious about the effective management of drought situation in state. It is taking right measures in declaring drought-affected districts and taluks. The chief minister has instructed all deputy commissioners to make sure that drinking water problems are solved in all districts and be given top priority. And all the deputy commissioners are working in the same direction,” he said.
“Not only Karnataka, but other districts are also facing drinking water problems. The ground water level has gone down everywhere. This is the time we act to conserve water and make sure that the ground water level does not go down further." Oscar concluded.
