Mangaluru, Apr 18: Former MLA, Krishna J Palemar slammed the ruling Congress government for taking credit of development works which he initiated during his tenure. He expressed his dismay while addressing mediapersons here at press club on Tuesday, April 18,
Palemar said, "The much awaited Malavoor dam is set to be inaugurated today afternoon and the district administration has planned a grand function. I am hurt by the fact that they have not invited me to the programme. Forget about inviting, they do not have the courtesy of even informing nor printing my name on the invite," he said.
"Malavoor vented dam is my brainchild and I had requested for Rs 3 core for the project. The then government led by B S Yeddyurappa sanctioned another Rs 18 crore for the project. The present Congress government is taking credit for the previous government's work. I strongly condemn this.
"I am happy that the dam is ready for public use. It was finalised by the committee that water will be released to Kandavara, Adyappady, Kolambe and Gurupura too. We are not sure if the current administration is releasing water to these areas. However, Adyappady will be under the threat of flood. The district administration is yet to give proper compensation for the farmers of this area. Congress is playing politics with the project," he added.
Speaking on water scarcity in the city, he alleged, "Mangaluru City Corporation has not made proper arrangements to distribute water in the city. We can see people waiting for water in every corner of the city. In some areas, MCC is supplying drainage water too. They are not testing the purity of drinking water."
Bharath Shetty, president, BJP north constituency and Sanjay Prabhu, treasurer were present.
