Kasargod, Apr 16: A woman and her toddler son died after a KSRTC bus ran over them at Perladka here on Sunday April 16.

The deceased have been identified as Rajani (30) of Kanathur, and her one-and-a-half-year-old son Hrutadev.

Rajani's mother Rohini and daughter Latika (3) sustained injuries and have been admitted to hospital.

The KSRTC bus was plying from Kallalli to Kasargod. Rajani, her children and mother were about to board the bus, when it suddenly moved forward. All of them lost balance and fell under the rear tyre of the bus. While Rajani and her son died, the others escaped with injuries.

Sources said that even though the passengers in the bus screamed at the driver to wait for Rajani and others to board, he still moved the bus forward. The driver's negligence is said to have caused the accident.

Rajani, her children and mother were on the way to relative's house when the tragic accident took place.

The bodies have been shifted to the morgue at Kasargod general hospital.

Bedadka police have registered a case.

Sad news. By reading the news it seems it is a total negligence from the driver. It was a deliberate act and the driver should be punished and permanently cancelled his driving license.

May the family get strength to bear the loss...
May the departed souls rest in peace...
Public drivers must be ably assisted by conductors...
Rear left of the bus is often controlled by the conductor...
He must be booked as well...

The Bus Driver will be booked and shall be left on Bail. This is the law.
When there was a law which was about to adapt to protect citizens and Book Drivers and Owners on such matters, The Bus Association fought tooth and nail to dissolve and abolish. They knew the Drivers and Owners will be booked and for that matter they already knew that the Bus Drivers will commit errors.

Earlier we used to see Private Bus Drivers driving rashly and we all agreed to end Private Bus monopoly having faith on KSRTC for safe journey. The trend is changing now. From past few months all I could read is accidents occured due to KSRTC Buses. The Drivers are in a hurry to either reach on time or trying to accomodate passengers before the competitor does. Maybe the get commissions for the same. The issue here is these Drivers wait hours and hours in the Main Bus Stand and probably every junction. Then the race starts to catch up with the lost time to reach the Destination.

The least one can do is cancel the Driver's licence for life and Book for Murder. Now knowing the facts, the Ministry or Police will say they are doing enquiries and once the result comes, then they would be booked. Take witnesses, Check CCTV cam and file a FIR. But all we get to hear is Police have registered a case.

    Vey sad and unfortunate incident.

Very sad. Yes Danish, Mangalore the private bus drivers are always rash drivers and ruthless. But in this case there is no mention which KSRTC bus is involved Kerala or Karnataka. The private bus lobby should be banned in D.K. and see the difference. D.K. would be a better place to live.
