Mangaluru, Apr 16: In connection with an incident in which a person had forced himself into the house of Ambujakshi (55), launched serious attack on her and decamped with 35 grams of gold ornaments worth about a lac of rupees. The accused has been arrested. He has been identified as Pashupati (20), a resident of Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu.
It may be recalled that the residents of the railway colony where Ambujakshi lives, under the leadership of various organizations, had held a strong protest in front of the central railway station here on April 10, demanding security at the colony in the light of the said incident. Pandeshwar police, who have arrested the accused, said they have also recovered the gold ornaments taken away by the youth.
The police said that Pashupati lost his father long back and his mother has abandoned him. So he lives alone, moves from place to place, and ekes out a living by robbing people. He faces cases at two police stations in Tamil Nadu, and was jailed for two years and six months in the past.
