Puttur, Apr 16: Ramanna Gowda from Bajathur village near Uppinangady in the taluk committed suicide on the night of Friday April 14 by consuming a poisonous substance. He was 60.
Ramanna's wife had died last year after a coconut fell from the tree on her head. That incident had left a deep impact on Ramanna, who was found to be depressed and dejected since then. On Friday, he had visited Puttur. After coming back, he went to his plantation. As he did not return even after considerable period of time, the family members went looking for him and found that he had died out of poison consumption inside the plantation.
Ramanna is survived by four children. On the basis of a complaint delivered by his youngest son, Ganesh Prasad, Uppinangady police registered a case and began investigation.
