Mangaluru: Aboobakar Krishnapura takes over as trustee of NMPT

Mangaluru, Apr 15: The central government appointed Aboobakar Krishnapura as the trustee of New Mangalore Port Trust for 2 years starting April 1. Aboobakar will represent the staff employed at the port.

Aboobakar is the general secretary of Canara Port worker's Union. He is also the state secretary of Indian National Trade Union Congress Karnataka. Furthermore, he is the current president of Khilriya English Medium High School, Suratkal, and Bertrand Russell High School, Baikampady.

N M Adyanthaya preceded Aboobakar in the post. Adyanthaya is a  former ILO member and as an international labour leader has represented the employees of NMPT on the board. He was the trustee of NMPT for a record period of 37 years, spanning from the year 1980 to 2017.
