Mangaluru, Apr 15: "Karnataka is the strong fort of Congress.BJP is dreaming to destroy Congress. But Nanjangudu and Gundlupet by-elections have shown BJP that how much people are attached to Congress and how happy they are with the administration in state,” said Veerappa Moily, MP from Chikkaballapur and former union minister in a press meet at circuit house on April 14 here.
Yeddyurappa
“Yeddyurappa’s gimmicks are not going to work in Karnataka. He is a corrupt man himself and gives the speech against the corruption. His aim is to capture the power and become stronger in corruption. But people of Karnataka are in love with Congress as Siddaramaiah government is giving them good governance," Moily added.
S M Krishna
Taking a dig at S M Krishna, Moily said "S M Krishna left the party for his own reasons. We never felt his exit is a loss for Congress. Because of his campaign for BJP in by- elections, Congress secured additional votes. Congress members not like S M Krishna. They are not after power. Krishna should understand that the by-elections results are against some political leaders’ selfishness." Moily said.
Answering the questions on position of Congress at national level he said "Congress will reconstruct both national and state level committees within three months. We are focusing on strengthening the party from ground level. The hard working Congress members will get more prominence in the reconstruction process.”
KPCC presidentship
"I am not in race of KPCC president’s post. Already I have enjoyed all positions in the party. There are number of deserving leaders in Congress to lead the party. I will go on a statewide tour for strengthening the party starting from May." Moily concluded.
