Udupi, Apr 15: With reference to a news item titled 'Suzlon is using poisonous plastic substance for making blades' based on statement made by Dr Deviprasad Shetty which had appeared in Daijiworld website, Suzlon has denied having used any poisonous plastic substances during the manufacture of Suzlon blades.
In a email communication to Daijiworld.com by V K Menon, vice president, corporate communications of the company, says that Suzlon is a pioneer in the wind industry and is backed by over two decades of dedication towards the cause of renewable energy. It further added that the company has been operating with prudent business practices for the cause of environment and its resources.
The company has also said that Suzlon is known for some of the best corporate social responsibility programmes in the areas of education, sanitation, drinking water, skilling and women empowerment.
It has further stated that blade manufacturing unit under the Padubidri Special Economic Zone(SEZ) falls under the highly regulated processing zone of the SEZ and is not open for free movement of any person other than only authorized personnel. Setting up a manufacturing plant requires prior approval of various state and central government permissions, and the blades being manufactured for the purposes of utilization in the wind turbine generators requires materials which can be used in a controlled environment with prior approval of state pollution control board, Suzlon has pointed out.
The company has also clarified that it has been complying with every certification as required by statute including strict adherence to stringent Special Economic Zone guidelines.
