Margao, Mar 18: The programme of Taleigao Chess Academy Sports Club for the financial year 2008-09 were finalized at its executive meeting held at Dynasty Manor, Odlembhat, Taleigao on Sunday March 16.

The calendar of events is as follows:

1. Basic chess course for government primary school teachers in the month of April to be concluded with a chess tournament involving participant teachers followed by distribution of participation certificates.

2. Scholarship scheme of Rs 1000 per month for a year for children below 12 years: Funding of the scholarship scheme is to be done through donation from religious institutions, corporate houses, well-wishers etc. Also, 3% of Taleigao Chess Academy's total receipts will be transferred to this scholarship fund.

President Manish Kamble donated Rs 3000 and treasurer Ganesh Manerkar put in Rs 1000 towards the scholarship fund during the meeting. The scheme will start from October 1, 2008.

Children who finish among the top ten in any all-Goa chess tournament organized by Taleigao Chess Academy is eligible to apply for scholarships. The last day for submitting the forms is the first Saturday of October.

3. It has also been decided not to organize any age group selection chess tournament for Goa State Chess Association unless a written request comes from them to hold such tournaments at least two months in advance.

4. Other projects in association with NGOs to be organized throughout the year were also discussed in the meeting.

5. CEO of Taleigao Chess Academy Shrikant Barve's speech on 'Vision of TCA for Goa for next five Years' to be delivered on 'Holichess' on Saturday March 22 at SAG Campal was finalized.

6. It was also decided to invite presidents of nearby chess activity centres/clubs, SAG chess coach at Campal, Panaji for executive committee meeting. Invitees to be paid Rs 100/- as honorarium.

All the executive members were present for the meeting.
