Mangaluru, Apr 14: While coastalwood movies are slowly becoming bigger entertaining blockbusters, Tulu short film 'Paroksh' has become a rage on Youtube and social media after receiving 30,000 views on the first day of its release.
Director Ganesh Shetty's directorial debut tells about people from coastal Karnataka falling prey to superstitions despite being from an educational hub. 'Paroksh', which means invisible, is said to be inspired by a true story which took place in 2015 at Kundapur.
The story is about a family in Kundapur could hear a baby's laughter from a coconut tree every evening which tosses them into fear.
There is no baby or another human being to be found near the tree. They approach an astrolger and try all the remedies. Finally, the family gets a coconut tree climber who finds a mobile phone at the top of the coconut tree which he had left behind.
Produced by Drishyam Films, 'Paroksh' is a 12-minute short movie. Amit Sial, Pooja Upasana and Yateen Karyekar are seen in prominent roles in the film.
