Mysuru, Apr 14: Former minister in Siddaramaih’s Cabinet and now a defeated man from BJP, V Srinivas Prasad has said that he will never contest elections again in his life.
Speaking to reporters after losing the battle in the Nanjangudu by-polls, Srinivas Prasad said “I had faced embarrassment when I lost my cabinet post without any consultation. That was a big blow to my self esteem. So I decided to resign as Congress MLA and contest the election from BJP. I had already said that I will not be contesting the 2018 Assembly elections. Now I will remain in active politics, without contesting elections, but rendering service to society. “
“I had the confidence of winning this election with a margin of 5,000 votes. But during the last two days of campaigning, Congress spent a lot of money to lure voters. I had said that this is a contest between me and Siddaramaiah. Now I admit that it is a victory of Siddaramaiah and Congress. But Siddaramaiah should reflect about his victory and think how he won. His conscience should tell him the truth,” he added.
“I am not unhappy. I accept the verdict of people. I am grateful to those thousands of people, who supported me. I also feel that this is the big blow to the self confidence of my supporters.” he opined.
“No ways the results of these two by-polls will have a bearing on next Assembly elections. BJP will triumph next time. Though I am away from poll politics, I will always be there for BJP as an active politician.” he concluded.
