Udupi, Apr 13: Former Karnataka chief minister, leader of the opposition in the assembly, and BJP leader, Jagadish Shettar, accused Congress of splurging money to secure victory in both Gundlupet and Nanjangud constituencies which went to by-poll on April 9.
Speaking to media persons during his visit to the town on Thursday April 13, Shettar said that it is normal for the ruling party in the state to bag seats during assembly by-polls. At the same time, he hastened to add that this result is not an indicator for the things to come in the next year's assembly election.
"The Congress had made up its mind to win this by-poll under any circumstances, by hook or crook. They succeeded in their designs," he said.
Shettar said that elections will be continued to fought henceforth under the leadership of Yeddyurappa. He also expressed confidence that Srinivas Prasad, who was defeated in the by-poll, will get suitable position in the party organization. He hailed Prasad as being a veteran statesman.
Shettar visited Sri Krishna Math here on Thursday and paid obeisance. He also held talk with Paryaya Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.
