Bhatkal: 'Proud to be Indian' - says terror suspect Shabbir Bhatkal cleared by court

Bhatkal, Apr 12: "I was charged with fomenting terrorist activities and jailed for over eight years. During my stay inside jail, I underwent torture. Now I have been declared to be innocent. I have full faith in the judicial system and the legal processes in the country. I am also proud to be an Indian," said Shabbir Gangavali also known as Shabbir Bhatkal, who was recently released after having been arrested long back and kept in jail for his alleged links with terrorist activities.

Shabbir addressed a press conference at his home in Mugdam Colony here on Tuesday April 11. "I happen to be a Maulvi. I have nothing to do with Indian Mujahideen and terrorist activities. I had been arrested and jailed relating to a false case of counterfeit currency found in Pune. I have appealed against the verdict in this case in Mumbai high court. However, before the high court came out with its judgement, the term of my imprisonment was completed. I have faith that in this case too my name will be cleared," he added.

Shabbir said that he has already been exonerated in the case relating to an Arabic religious article supporting Jihad. "Mangaluru police had, in the meantime, taken me into their custody on the allegation of organizing terrorist activities at Ullal. My name was also linked to the blast at Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bengaluru and I was incarcerated. Now I have been cleared of all these cases. During the period I was in confinement, I faced acute kinds of torture. They used to inflict misery on me by targetting even my private parts and beard.

"Although I repeatedly explained that I did not know about Riyaz Bhatkal and Iqbal, they repeated questioned me about them and some others. I will try to forget all these things. It would be futile to spend time brooding over what happened in the past. I have my future life ahead of me. I will spend my time doing noble tasks and serving the people," he explained.

Sir, Long story small, the idea is to give the reader how the justice is biased convicting a real terror. Though you mentioned Godhra carnage there is no prejudice in glorifying the terror. We all need to accept that acts of communal violence and terror is equal. Whereas communal violence don't get wider coverage in the International mass media as terror 'breaking news'. Terror suspect Shabbir Bhatkal may be front page news for many media. But many new media has self blackout the release.

I would like to also remind you that first terror on 'Parliament' is carried by 'Gau Raksha' we Indian's with short time memory only memorize Afzal Guru. There is no relevance to the topic in later part of argument.

Terror has no religion. They worship only death. I strongly believe none of the religion encourage terrorism.

Kindly make wise analyse the subject and be bold to accept the fact.

They are India's most wanted terrorists. They have been involved in nearly half-a-dozen terror strikes.

Over 100 persons including women and children, died in those terror attacks.

Yet, no one talks about them. Media won't show their photographs or term them as 'dreaded terrorists'.

Several agencies including state police units, ATS teams, NIA and CBI have been on their hunt. They have been on Interpol's list watch-list too.

Due to failure of investigating agencies to arrest them, the cases in which they are main accused, have got weakened. Yet, these most wanted terrorists are never talked about in Indian media.

They are Sandeep Dange, Ramji Kalsangra and Amit Chauhan. They have been involved in four major terrorism cases apart from suspected involvement in some other acts.
For years, they have been absconding. It is speculated that they were in hiding in Nepal. There have also been occasional claims that they were dead or fears that they were 'eliminated'.

But, unlike other criminals whose faces are shown on TV channels on a regular basis, these most wanted aren't shown to the public. Is it because the image of terrorist created in public mind, will change?

They are involved in Ajmer Dargah Blast, Mecca Masjid Hyderabad blast case, Malegaon Blast Cases (Twice), Samjhauta Express terror attack and Modasa blast (the last case has been closed).

For more information, you can find it on NIA's website or from Interpol. Anyone who has information about their whereabouts can inform the agencies and help NIA, law-enforcers in India.

Since PM Modi center government came to power, the files goes missing from NIA in saffron terror cases and convicted terror gets bail. While many like Shabbir's languishing in jails across India.

I dont see any difference between BJP & Congress. BJP does it overtly whereas Congress does it covertly.

My complaint is that the system is flawed and communal in nature and this shall not be. All Indians should believe in Dharma and this means we should support the truth. If any does terror activity, indeed he should be punished. However why you want to accuse innocents? If this continues then people will lose their trust in the judiciary and police and rebel.

In your own words, Court has not declared Modi innocent but has let him free due to lack of evidence along with Amit Shah, right? Is it the same case with Sadhvi Pragya as well? Has Yedyurappa too been let free due to lack of evidences and not because he is not corrupt, albeit he still faces 22 corruption related cases. Amount of venom that you have towards fellow citizens of this country, just because they belong to some other faith and religion, not just astonishes me but grips me with fear. The modus operandi of the Hindutva police and media is as follows
1) Following any terrorist attack the Indian media itself say that this is the work of so and so terror organization. The police would not have even started the investigation also by then.
2) The police will pick up some local muslims from a muslim colony and accuse them of terrorists.
3) Indian media will show this on prime time and have special shows on Jihad
4) After years of court cases the accused turn out to be victims as the police does not has any substantial proof.
5) When the innocents come out they have lost their family life and reputation.

Both are different cases. Modi shown as innocent is a proof of money and muscle power. The same is the case of Salman being proven innocent. Courts have let him free for lack of evidences against him.

If you murder someone and if the police can not establish a motive and can not produce the weapon of murder, you can walk free too. Doesn't mean you are innocent.

You all have to develop a habit of reading the court verdicts, than depending on the social website for news.
In the case of Modi and Amit Shah, the cases were quashed by the courts for it has found that there is no merit in the cases.

Against Sadhvi Pragya, there weren't much evidences presented, but the ones presented were dismissed because it was very clear that they were fabricated.
