Mangaluru: Nursing graduates take oath to serve humanity at Father Muller convocation

Mangaluru, Apr 8: Father Muller School of Nursing and Father Muller College of Nursing celebrated its graduation ceremony here at Father Muller Convention Centre on Saturday, April 8.

A total of 190 students were awarded graduation degrees in a grand ceremony, among which 23 were general nursing, three were from BA School of Nursing, 106 basic BSc nursing, 40 post basic BSc Nursing, and 18 MSc nursing.

Addressing the gathering, Sr Celcy Mary, principal, St John's College of Nursing, Bengaluru said, "My hearty congratulations to all graduates who hereby step into a full-fledged career of caring and serving the sick and needy. This profession will be quite difficult as you will have to forget your own comfort and work for long hours. You have to work with care and compassion. At the same time you have to take this profession forward where you will get to understand the emotional aspects. You should also display positive attitude in your day to day activities.

"Always be loving towards to your parents who have spent sleepless nights for you facing hurdles in their life. Effective communication in this profession will help you to be pro active and also make you vibrant, vigilant and more knowledgeable. You are blessed to be graduated from this prestigious institution where value and discipline is imbibed in you," he added.

In his presidential address, vicar general of Mangaluru Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu said, "This is an auspicious day for all the graduates. We are all like a family here where thousands of employees have rendered their service in the hospital caring the needy. This institution is a temple of worship where many students of different religions invoke God's blessings before they begin their work. The divine blessings of God have all poured down on the students as well as the institution. We have always prioritized spiritual growth and value based education for the students which gives hope and encouragement."

Sr Celcy Mary released Muller Spring college magazine 'Belleze' on the occasion.

Principal of Father Muller School of Nursing and Father Muller College of Nursing Sr Winnifred D'Souza presented the annual report of the college. Students Nursing Association vice president Preethi presented the SNA report.

Earlier, FMCI in-charge director Fr Richard Coelho welcomed the gathering. Vice-principal of Father Muller school and college of nursing Prof Victoria Almeida delivered the vote of thanks.
