British Mother Accuses Goa Home Minister, DGP

ARES, Daijiworld Media Network - Goa

Panaji, Mar 15: Escalating her attack on the Goa police and politicians, Fiona Mackeown, mother of slain British girl, today blatantly accused Goa home minister Ravi Naik and Director general of police B S Brar of having nexus with drug mafia.

"I had been informed that there is a strong nexus between drug mafia, Ravi Naik (current home minister) and director general of Goa police B S Brar," Fiona said little before she went to the juvenile police station at Panaji to give her statement in regards to death of her daughter.

Fiona's eldest daughter, Scarlett Eden Keeling, 15, was raped and murdered on Goa's popular Anjuna beach on February 18. The police investigations had zeroed in on two accused – Samson D'Souza (a barman) and Placido Carvalho (drug trader) – who have confessed to the crime.

While Samson is charged for drugging, raping and murdering the girl, Placido has been accused of drugging and conspiring with Samson in murder.

Fiona, who appeared to the police station accompanied by her lawyer Vikram Varma, said that Home minister and DGP having full knowledge of the criminal activities, have done their best to protest the criminals. "That has been the case with my daughter also," she added.

The mother today circulated the copy of statement issued by tourism minister Fransisco Pacheco, which expresses worries about increasing drug trade along the coastal belt.

"The world is witness to their attempts to cover up Scarlett's murder," she said.

Reiterating for probe by central agencies in the entire matter, Fiona today said that any inquiry by these two people (HM and DGP), would be watered down to levels useless for a crime free society.

"Goa is a beautiful place and I love Goans. These two persons have brought shame to not only Goa but the entire country," the mother said adding, `to my mind good people don't deserve an environment controlled by a drug mafia under protection of few corrupt police officers and politicians.'

Fiona has said that this case is not just about the murder of my daughter but also about the many such unfortunate victims whose identities would be revealed after the proper investigations.

Let this drug/murder case be eye opener to the politicians who instead of doing their job as home minister and Police duty have indulged in drug trade - clearly known for its risk in destroying the local youth. It took an international tourists life to bring this nexus to light. Oppertunity and no fear of punish ment by law along with the availability of drugs is enough to affect not only this generation of Goa youth but also the future.

The 2 persons involved may get punished now but we have to remove the root cause- the bad apples in Govt of Goa and police who need to be punished. Goans let us punish these top scroundrels for sons and daughters sake and for Goas sake!

It's a shame Home Minister(Ravi Naik) and DGP (Brar). We have seen the cover up in the murder case of the British girl by the Police and the politicians, it was only after the pressure mounted we saw light.

Drugs are sold on the Beaches of Goa in broad day light, I have seen foreigners walk in and ask for drugs. We have seen local villagers coastal area become rich overnight selling drugs?? And now the foreigners tell us of corrupt politicians(HM) and DGP. SHAME ON YOU GUYS ...GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILIES

It is fact that Goa is become a haven for cheap foreigners who have brought the drug culture and spoiled the mindset of locals. Now coming in to this particular case, to blame the minister for the death is ridiculous. May be there was a coverup but the mother's negligence was criminal and now the crimnal mother is enjoying the media attention in India.
